Why I like working at the company

I always feel the company supports me to achieve my goal, which is to develop a skilled and agile workforce capable of adapting to technological changes.

We also seek to build and develop a company Culture: We plan to foster a culture of safety, inclusivity, and high performance.

Our team’s last strategy is to attract, retain, and nurture top talent in a competitive market..

Recently, I feel like I have really been doing things to counter the company’s challenges in Addressing the shortage of skilled workers in the areas of oil and gas enviromental protection and in renewables technology,

effectively managing change, especially with the rise of automation and AI in exploration, operations and safety and enviromental protection monitoring.

Keeping the workforce engaged and motivated in a physically demanding, high safety-risk and often repetitive work environment can also be a challenge.

A decent place to work

Good opportunities. Always recruiting. Training second-to-none. Taco Tuesdays!

"Global" business that can't pay a good money

Everything is so expensive nowadays, especially rent. I don’t know how a company working in so many locations and investing in new unproven technologies can justify paying such low salaries compared to competitors. Opportunities for regular raises or bonus schemes should be a given.

Same Old Same Old

Its like working anywhere – its only as good as your immediate boss. Not to name names but I have a “superior” who is always double checking all my work and making me do stuff again even though I’ve been at this for years. They also seem to have a clique of “followers” who get away with never putting in the work

Operational Tempo

Sometimes things just pile up – I don’t know if its a lack of staff or the company taking on too many new projects, but you hardly get a moment to breathe these days

Alright, but...

I worked at the company for many years but just had to get out. Its not the worst of companies but it has a lot to do to be the best experience for staff. The working conditions, particularly on new rigs can be awful and we can only get set of gloves and eye protection per year. At first, I didn’t think I was ready to start my role after such a short (3 week) training course and I was very nervous for almost a year as a result.

What's really important to me is to get out of Risk Management in order to progress up the corporate ladder. I have been busting my bits finding ways to prevent spending on risk reduction and diversity hiring programmes, reducing costs to stand out to the Chief Financial Officer. However, the company is driving increased safety and enviromental protection programs that cost too much money. Hiring local talent to train up rather than recruiting from within the company can reduce operational efficiency, therefore costing the company money, something that is going to come back to give them nightmares!
